Did you think we fell off the face of the earth? It's been a very long time since I posted in the blog, but we have been busy battling Gary's physical problems.
Not very long after we arrived at the RV park in Kalispell, Gary came down with shingles ... ouch! Thankfully, his chiropractor noticed it right away so we had very little delay between the start and the remedy. He's finally recovering nicely now, but it takes shingles a long time to get out of your system. Needless to say, he was NOT a happy camper! Actually, he was depressed--so depressed in fact that he didn't tell me his diagnosis for a whole day! Here's what it looked like at the very beginning. And thankfully, it never spread from those two locations around his middle (both front and back).
But that's not all! He rekindled a back injury and his shoulder flared up, so he was a total wreck! The good news is Montana has a lot of Natural Doctors (NDs) and we found a great one who has really been helping both of us (wish we had been introduced to him at the onset of Gary's shingles!). However, he got Gary into physical therapy (can you say, "It's about time!"?) The result of all his physical infirmities is that they kept us "close to home" and we did very little exploring for the first couple of months in Montana.
But, onto our second sightseeing tour in Montana which was to the totally cool town of Whitefish.
Here's what they have to say about their town: Founded at the turn of the 20th century when the Great northern Railway chose to put its northwestern Montana headquarters here, modern-day Whitefish is an island of commerce and culture, surrounded by an ocean of mountain recreation. Nestled at the northernmost tip of the majestic Flathead Valley, Whitefish offers residents a peaceful--yet active--lifestyle that is the envy of communities near and far. All you have to do is pick your pleasure--from hiking & biking to boating & cycling, from skiing & skating, to floatin' & fishin' ... you'll find all that (and more!) in Whitefish. Population: 6,649.
First stop was breakfast at the Buffalo Café. We had a delicious breakfast before we started the rest of our tour.
These beautiful flower baskets hang from light poles, lining the streets of Whitefish.
Looking down the main street in Whitefish towards the Whitefish Mountain Ski Resort on Big Mountain.
And here's a close-up of the ski runs on Big Mountain.
Whitefish also has a beautiful small recreational lake.
Here are some views of the lake from the lakeside park.
This is the walking path in the park.
I love the bark on Aspen trees. I don't know why, but I just do!
More lake photos.
Lastly, I snagged a photo from the Internet of Whitefish wrapped in winter wonderland white. What a beautiful, scenic town--picture-postcard perfect!
Song of Songs 2:10-11My beloved responded and said to me, "Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, and come along. For behold, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone."
