I now have riding lesson #2 behind my belt! This time Gary used his phone to videotape me which was so awesome. I'm going to include a couple of videos here, but just as a reminder you may not be able to view the videos unless you click on the article link and go directly to the blog website. Videos don't seem to work unless you're on a computer. But here ya' go, I'm riding lazy Durango again, but Gary caught me trotting and also going through the slalom cones.
After the lesson we headed up Kingsbury Grade to Lake Tahoe. I had an H2O at Home party order to deliver to the Edgewood and Joani's friend, Heather, had graciously agreed to get all the orders delivered to Joani's friends while Joani was sipping sangria by the pool in Palm Springs. I took this photo of the Carson Valley from the car on our way up. That's the Pinenut Mountains in the background.
We made plans to eat lunch at Brooks, the bar and grill inside the Edgewood clubhouse. I had the mahi-mahi fish tacos which were the BEST fish tacos I have ever eaten. They were amazingly good. Gary had the French dip sandwich with homemade potato chips and he almost drooled over his sandwich and chips! Next time you get up to Lake Tahoe, make a point of having lunch in Brooks (it's less expensive than their fine dining room, but absolutely delicious). The picture below is the front of the Edgewood Clubhouse which houses two restaurants, a bar, and two ballrooms for weddings, etc.
Right outside Brooks Bar and Deck is, of course, the deck. This side of the wrap-around deck looks over part of the golf course. There's this great stone fire pit and they had the fire burning. It was a beautiful day, but there was a chilly wind accompanying the crystal clear skies.
To the left of the fire pit , the deck overlooks Lake Tahoe. We've been in the dining room at night when the sunset was spectacular. The views of Lake Tahoe are killer from this clubhouse.
When we were getting ready to leave, I took Sadie down to the beach to sniff around a little. Isn't that what dogs do best? Well, besides pee a river, of course!
And, here's the lake without Sadie. You can tell it's windy because the water is very choppy.
Last, but not least on our way back home, we continued on Highway 50 down to Carson City. That route includes a drive through Cave Rock.
Love this area. Love Lake Tahoe. Love the Carson Valley. We will miss it when we're in Colorado, but new adventures are lurking around the corner and we don't want to miss them!
Luke 8:22-25 // Now on one of those days Jesus and His disciples got into a boat, and He said to them, "Let us go over to the other side of the lake." So they launched out. But as they were sailing along He fell asleep; and a fierce gale of wind descended on the lake, and they began to be swamped and to be in danger. They came to Jesus and woke Him up, saying, " Master, Master, we are perishing!" And He got up and rebuked the wind and the surging waves, and they stopped, and it became calm. And He said to them, "Where is your faith?" They were fearful and amazed, saying to one another, "Who then is this, that He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him?"
