Cascades Conclusion

It’s our last day in the Cascades and finally the rain has ceased and we have beautiful weather for our trip to the east side of this picturesque, craggy mountain range.  Even on our route out, the splendor and majesty of this mountainous terrain was something to behold.

We pulled over so I could take a few photos.  Here’s the rig, tilting slightly off  kilter roadside.

At that stop, I had to take this photo … mostly because I’m in love with the way the clouds cling to the steep mountain inclines.

The highest pass we traversed was Rainy Pass at 4855 feet.  This photos was taken near that pass.  Notice the glaciers?

We continued on to this authorized “overlook” … and what an overlook it turned out to be.  You had to drive in about ¼ mile from Highway 20 and then climb out to the edge, but it provided some of the most stunning views of the Cascades with their sky-stabbing spires.

A fitting conclusion to our Cascades experience can only be one thing ... a video panning the steep mountainous terrain from the overlook!

It was a fond farewell to the North Cascades National Park.  We hope to get there again sometime in the future.
